The Draft Water Quality Management Plan has been developed to protect and restore surface waters. The Deerfield River Basin includes the watersheds drained by the Deerfield, Green, and North Rivers (Basin 12) and Fall River, Broad, Crosby, and Whetstone Brooks (Basin 13). The protection and improvement of these waters is reflected by actions identified in this Tactical Basin Plan.
The Tactical Basin Plan identifies actions that will protect, maintain, and improve surface waters by targeting cost effective improvement and protection projects to areas of greatest benefit to water quality and aquatic habitat. Margo Ghia, Natural Resources Planner for Windham Regional Commission said of the Tactical Basin Plan that “it is important to get public feedback on the Deerfield and adjacent CT River Tributaries Tactical Basin Plan as the plan is an important consideration of all water quality related restoration and protection projects in the region for the next five years.”
The public comment period will run through December 22.
