Native Plant Project in Westminster

Thursday, October 27 – 8 AM – 3 PM

The Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District is partnering with Vermont Land Trust on a stream/wetland restoration project on retired agricultural land in Westminster West. In the Spring, a group of volunteers planted around 400 trees and shrubs on the site. A group will be returning to plant an additional 250 shrubs this fall, and are also hoping to do some searching and pulling for invasive plants. The site has primarily buckthorn, with some barberry and rose. The planting will be on Thursday, October 27 starting at 8 AM. If there are enough volunteers on hand we’ll also do the invasives work on the same day. If you are able to join us for any of this day we would love the help. Interested volunteers or anyone with questions should contact Cory Ross, WCNRCD District Manager, at [email protected]. We’re happy to welcome volunteers for any or all of the day depending on your availability!
