Description
Betula Alleghaniensis This tree is a hallmark of northern hardwood forests. Can live to beyond 100 years under the right conditions. Native to the Northeast and common in cool regions, particularly on north facing slopes, prefers shade or partial shade. Yellow bark and wood that is used for flooring, cabinetry and toothpicks. The bark is amber to silvery with a smooth texture and exfoliating in thin rolls. Attracts birds.
Wildlife: Attracts birds. Height: 60-75 feet. Zones: 3-7.
